Flounder

The flounder is the only flatfish in Danish waters that can also live in freshwater. In summer, flounders often gather in brackish areas, for instance the inner parts of fjords, and some even travel up streams. The flounder can produce hybrid with place, so-called "leps".

Max. length: 50 cm. Caught in traps, trawls and Danish seines particularly in the belt waters, the Kattegat and the Baltic Sea. In 2000, Danish fishing vessels landed approx. 4,600 tons.
